On the final day of the campaign the club were just short of their £60k target, so the 3R board of Trustee's and 3R Grant Commitee setup extraordinary meetings and voted to increase the usual maximum grant to push the campaign over the line and reach the target. Without this the Crowdfunding campaign would have been cancelled and wouldn't have been allowed to go ahead. Carnforth High School DofE co-ordinator Jack Grieve told us that the school has recently launched a year 7 and year 8 outdoor activity reward. This entails a totally free, 1 night stay on a local campsite whereby all pupils take part in a carousel of outdoor activities such as: bushcraft, orienteering, nature hunts, outdoor cooking etc. The new equipment funded by the 3R Foundation will allow access to this opportunity for at least 90 pupils each year.
