389 grants awarded into the local Lancaster, Morecambe and South Lakes community since February 2023
Thanks to the incredible support of our local community, the 3R Foundation Charity Shop in Carnforth has awarded over £201,000 in grants to 389 local organisations across Lancaster, Morecambe, North Lancashire and the South Lakes.
All from simply helping people Recycle, Reuse & Rehome (3R) their unwanted items.
Started by Paul & Sue Calland of Treble3 Design & Print, and powered by an amazing team of volunteers and trustees, it’s truly a community shop run by the community.

Oh No, not another charity shop!
Well, actually no…
the 3R Foundation was formed by an experienced charity shop team, who were left with no home when their existing shop was closed down in 2022. We had all worked together for a number of years and the managers have over a dozen years of experience running very successful and popular independent local charity shops.
So as one door closed, another opened!
We think of ourselves very much as a family, so we put our heads together and found new premises and our lovely new shop was opened on the 1st February 2023, in what used to be the Bathroom and Kitchen showroom next to Tesco in Carnforth.
It is ideal as there is a free car park at the side and even an unloading bay at the front door, so it is very easy to drop off donations and collect larger purchases.
The shop was started completely from scratch, with setup funding coming just from the team themselves and main sponsors Treble Design & Print Ltd. But we rely on donations for stock, so we would always be very grateful for any of the following: clothes, shoes, bags, furniture, books, DVDs, working electricals, glass and chinaware, toys and games.
So that’s what 3R means!
It has never been more important to recycle what you can and to save money by giving something a new home rather than by buying new!
But what's it all for?
We have two primary objectives…
The first one is to put the proceeds raised by the shop straight back into the local North Lancs / South Cumbria community, right at grassroots level. See who we have awarded grants to here
We have a simple application form to allow local small charities, clubs and groups to apply for up to £250, £500 or £1,000 grants for any projects that benefit the community: It might be new equipment for a sports team, a vital piece of equipment, a new cooker for a hub kitchen, repairs to a clubhouse or Scout/Guide hut, or plants and trees for a community space.
Do you know a local small charity, group or club that could do with some funding?
The second objective…
Is to change people’s perception of charity shops. Sadly, many people often talk about dimly lit, threadbare, silent and rather tired places. We are part of the new generation of charity shops, welcoming, modern, bright, clean and airy, and not a fusty smell anywhere!
You will often find our team laughing and chatting with customers and we take pride in offering an ever changing range of great value items that might otherwise have ended up in landfill.
You can rest assured that your donated items
will be: Recycled, Reused and Rehomed
AND more importantly…
that the profits raised will then be put to good use to benefit you and your family in the local community (not paying for some fancy office in some city somewhere!).
