Why do we sometimes have to decline donations?

We would love to be able to accept everything that is offered to us as we realise you have gone out of your way to bring it to us. However we do advise that if you are making a special journey, or have a lot to donate then please call us first on 01524 932125

This is simply because we are a small totally independant, standalone shop...

so 'sometimes' you will see a sign saying the following:

"WE ARE REALLY SORRY BUT WE CAN'T ACCEPT ANY MORE DONATIONS TODAY.
We realise this may sound strange, and we know it is a big inconvenience when you have been good enough to bring donations in for us.
But we are just the one small independent shop and only have a tiny sorting and stock area here.
Once this area is full we simply don’t have room for anything else, until our lovely volunteers (who are working as fast as they can) have cleaned and sorted it to sell.
Thank you for understanding"

It is very frustrating for our staff and volunteers when we have to put this sign out and refuse donations, but we are all doing our very best with the limted space and facilities we have, so we would be really grateful if you could accept our apologies if we cannot accept your donations on occasion.

Please remember that we are not a big chain of shops with a central warehouse (or fancy offices somewhere), but we are a local charity, started and run by local volunteers, who are raising funds that go directly back into OUR local community!
