When do you accept donations?

We are open 9.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday. The best time to bring donations is shortly after we open, when we are more likely to have the space and volunteers available to process them.

Please call before making a special journey - We would love to be able to accept everything that is offered to us when we are open, as we realise you have gone out of your way to bring it to us. BUT we do advise that if you are making a special journey, or have a large item, or a lot to donate, or are unsure if we can accept your donation(s) then please give us a call first on 01524 932125

This is only because we are a small, totally independent, standalone, shop, so sometimes we simply do not have any space left in the shop or our small sorting room, to accept any more donations, or enough volunteers to process them.

When do are you unable to accept donations?

If we have received a large number of donations and our shop and sorting room are full, you will see a sign outside explaining that we are unable to accept any more donations that day.

Picture

Please remember that we are not a big chain of shops with a central warehouse (or fancy offices somewhere), we are just a small local charity, established and run by local volunteers, who are raising funds that go directly back into OUR local community!

We only have one very small sorting room and no stockroom, so every donation must be checked, cleaned and, where necessary, PAT tested on the day it arrives, usually by only one or two volunteers. If we do not have sufficient space left or enough volunteers available to process the donations safely, we sometimes have no option but to decline them.

Our staff and volunteers find it very frustrating when we have to display this sign and turn donations away. Everyone is doing their best with the limited space and facilities available, so we would be very grateful for your understanding if we cannot accept your donations on a particular day.

Once again...

Thank you for generosity and understanding
