It is made up of around 40 players who meet regularly to rehearse and perform a wide range of music arranged for flutes including, piccolos, alto, bass and contra bass flutes. The members whose age ranges from 10 to 70+ come from Cumbria, North Lancashire and Yorkshire. They rehearse in Kendal and hold 2 or 3 concerts every year and also perform at a range of outdoor events including Christmas carols in Rydal Cave and Levens Hall. The grant has gone towards the purchase of an upright bass flute that is easier for all ages of muscians to use, as opposed to the alternative, harder to handle, transverse bass flute. We hope that it will help them with their performances for many years to come.
