Wise Up Workshops

Wise Up Workshops

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £623 to Wise Up CIC for 2x Lenovo Tablets and Art Materials.

Wise Up Workshops was started in Morecambe in 2013 as an inclusive creative programme for young people with additional needs and disabilities to build confidence and self-esteem. Within 12 months they then expanded their offer to everyone, to all ages and all abilities through theatre-making, storytelling, therapeutic play and performance skills.

Their main aims are to offer a safe space, to build confidence, life skills and resilience in the local Morecambe community through creative arts. The Wise Up programme is service user led through understanding conversations with the community, to celebrate people’s skills and personal stories, to offer new opportunities and to celebrate what people CAN do together with everyone. Everyday there is something for everyone, to be involved, to experience, to share and to be part of something positive.

The two new smart tablets enable team members with additional needs and disabilities to access resources online, audio descriptions of scripts and make it more inclusive for all participants. Wise Up Workshops run 2 main programmes for young people and adults with disabilities and they now have have a tablet at each venue.

The art materials are to be used to make props for their productions of Cinderella and The Jungle Book (Youth Theatre- June 2025) and included tissue paper, card, wire, paint, glue and material for backdrops.
