Westgate Cricket Club

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £250 to Westgate Cricket Club for cricket bats, balls, gloves and two sets of wickets.

Founded in 1936, Westgate Cricket Club has been at the heart of its local community for almost 90 years. The club currently runs three men's teams and five junior teams, and this year marked an exciting milestone with the launch of its first dedicated women's and girls' teams.

The club is committed to making cricket accessible to everyone, encouraging participation across all ages while promoting teamwork, confidence and healthy, active lifestyles.

The grant funded bats, balls, gloves and two sets of wickets, providing the equipment needed to support the growth of women's and girls' cricket. The new equipment is also being used to introduce more young people to the sport through links with local schools, including a Year 5 and 6 primary schools cricket festival.

By investing in equipment for new players, the grant is helping the club expand opportunities for women and girls, inspire the next generation of cricketers and strengthen community participation in the sport.

The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco).
