The Rainbow Centre Morecambe

 The Rainbow Centre Morecambe

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £400 to The Rainbow Centre Morecambe to support new furniture upcycling classes.

The Rainbow Centre is a welcoming, safe and accessible community space for people aged over 50, created to help combat social isolation and support both mental and physical wellbeing. The centre offers a varied programme of activities throughout the week, giving members regular opportunities to stay active, learn new skills and enjoy social connection in a friendly and inclusive environment.

The Centre recently developed a new woodwork room and was keen to introduce upcycled furniture classes. These sessions will enable participants to learn practical skills, work creatively, and give old furniture a new lease of life, while enjoying the wellbeing benefits that come from shared activity and purpose. The project also promotes sustainability by encouraging reuse rather than disposal, something we are very keen on at the 3R Foundation!

The 3R Foundation grant was used to purchase essential materials including furniture paint, top coats and paint brushes. These resources allowed the classes to get underway and ensure participants can take part fully, regardless of personal finances. The new activity is expected to further strengthen the sense of community at The Rainbow Centre and provide another valuable outlet for creativity, confidence building and social interaction.

If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
