the Heron Theatre at Beetham

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £784 to the Heron Theatre at Beetham for new signage for the side of the building that faces the main A6 into Milnthorpe.

The Heron Theatre is a small 78 seat theatre located in Beetham, Milnthorpe that provides a varied programme of theatre, film and music for the local community. It is administered by an elected management committee, who are the trustees. All management, administration, technical work and front of house duties are carried out by an interested group of volunteers. The Committee strive to engage with local communities and find new and innovative ways to support them e.g. Beetham Primary School, who are located across the road, use the building for various school activities, local drama groups are also able to access the theatre plus we also host a monthly writing group.

The majority of music and theatre performances are delivered by professionals, enabling residents from the local area to have access to high quality concerts and shows. We also invite local artists to display their work in the theatre foyer, thereby enriching the experience of theatre visitors, whilst helping to increase the artists' exposure with potential supporters and buyers.

The theatre is located in Beetham with one wall directly alongside the A6 which the management committee wanted to put a 'Heron Theatre' sign on, so that cars passing on the road can see the theatre and audience participants can find it more easily. We were happy to award a grant to fund this.

If the 3R foundation could help with funds for a vital piece of equipment, then clubs and groups can apply for a grant using our simple form here:
