Springfield Domestic Abuse Support
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £1,000 to Springfield Domestic Abuse Support for essential household items including a sofa, air fryer, pans, fridge and a cot.
Springfield Domestic Abuse Support has been helping people recover from the trauma of domestic abuse for over a century. Established in 1915 and registered as a charity in 1964, the organisation provides safe, supportive environments for people rebuilding their lives after abuse.
Their refuge offers secure accommodation for women and children who have fled domestic abuse, and in 2024 they also opened supported accommodation for men who became homeless after escaping abusive situations. These services are the only specialist domestic abuse accommodation services of their kind in Cumbria.
Springfield also delivers community support across Westmorland and Furness, offering one-to-one support, trauma-informed recovery programmes and group activities that help survivors regain confidence and independence.
The grant helped purchase essential items for survivors moving into their own homes after leaving supported accommodation. Items such as a sofa, fridge, air fryer, pans and a cot helped individuals and families set up safe and comfortable living spaces as they began rebuilding their lives.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.
Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
