Springfield Domestic Abuse Support

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £1000 to Springfield Domestic Abuse Support for 2x shelves, 20x storage boxes, mobile phones and video doorbells.
Springfield has been supporting survivors of domestic abuse since 1915. It provides safe, therapeutic spaces for individuals recovering from trauma. The organisation also runs a refuge for women and children fleeing domestic abuse, and in 2024, it opened a similar supported accommodation service for men. These are the only specialist domestic abuse accommodations in Cumbria.

Springfield delivers a community service offering tailored support to women, men, and children who are experiencing or recovering from abuse. Its approach includes one-to-one support, trauma-informed group recovery programmes, and group activities.
To reduce the impact of domestic abuse locally, Springfield provides training and awareness sessions for service providers, businesses, and community groups.
They applied to the 3R Foundation for a grant to improve storage in their donations room and to purchase essential items for families fleeing domestic abuse. Their donations room provides free clothing, toiletries, and food to anyone in the community, no questions asked. Due to limited storage, items were being kept in boxes and bags on the floor. Funding enabled the installation of wall-mounted racking and clear storage boxes, making the space more organised and user-friendly.
Springfield also supports clients in crisis, many of whom arrive with nothing. This funding helped cover the cost of essential items such as mobile phones, white goods, beds, and security devices when donated items are not available.
If the 3R foundation could help with funds for a vital piece of equipment, then clubs and groups can apply for a grant using our simple form here:
