Search and Detection Dogs
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £250 to Search + Detection Dogs for protective jackets for their search dogs and waterproof trousers for handlers.
Search and Detection Dogs is a not for profit organisation that works closely with Lancashire Police, supporting specialist search teams when locating deceased missing persons. Their trained dogs and volunteer handlers assist police investigations by helping search difficult terrain and large areas where a trained detection dog can make a vital difference.
The team is made up of dedicated volunteers who give their time and skills to support this important work. Searches often take place in challenging outdoor environments and all weather conditions, making suitable protective clothing and equipment essential.
The grant helped fund protective jackets for the search dogs, helping keep them safe when working in rough terrain, as well as waterproof trousers for handlers so they can continue searches safely and comfortably in wet conditions.
This equipment helps ensure the team can continue supporting Lancashire Police in this specialised and valuable role.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.
Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
