Search and Detection Dogs
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £222 to Search and Detection Dogs for six safety bump caps and a specialist dog lifting harness.
Search and Detection Dogs supports the Police and other Search and Rescue services across Lancashire and North Yorkshire, providing specialist search dog capabilities to assist in searches for deceased missing persons.
Their work can take handlers and dogs into difficult and potentially hazardous environments, so having the right protective and specialist equipment is essential for both the search team and their dogs.
The 3R grant funded six safety bump caps to provide additional head protection for team members while working in confined, overgrown or challenging search areas.
The grant also provided a specialist dog lifting harness, allowing a search dog to be safely lowered into, or lifted out of, locations that would otherwise be difficult to access. This gives the team greater flexibility when deploying dogs into challenging terrain while helping protect the animal throughout the operation.
It's specialist equipment for a specialist job, helping this dedicated team and their dogs work more safely and effectively alongside the emergency services when their unique skills are needed.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco).
Every purchase in the shop helps fund grants for local charities, clubs and community groups across North Lancashire and South Cumbria. Please support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations in our area.
