Read Easy Morecambe Bay

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £533 to Read Easy Morecambe Bay for Turning Pages reading manuals and Write Now activity books, helping local adults improve their reading skills.

Read Easy Morecambe Bay is a volunteer-run organisation supporting adults across North Lancashire and South Cumbria who struggle with reading.

For many adults, difficulties with reading can affect everyday life, from understanding letters and filling in forms to reading instructions, applying for jobs or simply enjoying a book.

Read Easy provides free, confidential, one-to-one reading coaching, with each learner matched to a trained volunteer coach for two friendly, flexible half-hour sessions each week.

The charity uses the Shannon Trust's Turning Pages programme, a structured series of five manuals and supporting reading books, helping learners develop their skills gradually and build confidence at their own pace.

The 3R grant funded new Turning Pages manuals and Write Now activity books, providing essential learning resources for the volunteers and adults they support.

As an organisation run entirely by volunteers, Read Easy relies on donations and grants to provide its service free of charge. Each reading partnership needs around £250 a year to cover learning materials and other essential support.

It's a wonderful example of how a relatively small grant can help make a life-changing difference, giving adults the confidence and independence that improved reading skills can bring. 💜
