Positive Futures

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £559 to Positive Futures for a commercial range cooker for its community café.

Positive Futures supports people living with mental ill health and learning disabilities by providing fun activities, talking therapies, personal development courses and opportunities to build confidence and independence. A key part of its work is the community café, where visitors can enjoy freshly prepared, affordable meals while participants gain valuable work experience in a supportive environment.

The café gives people the opportunity to develop practical life skills, improve their confidence and gain employability experience that can help them move towards volunteering or paid work.

The grant funded a new commercial range cooker, replacing an ageing appliance that was no longer working reliably. The new cooker includes improved safety features and is more accessible for people gaining experience in the kitchen, creating a safer and more inclusive learning environment.

Since it was installed, Team Leader Lyn has told us countless times just what a difference it has made. Preparing full roast dinners for large numbers of people every day is now so much easier, quicker and more reliable, making life far easier for both the staff and volunteers who keep the café running.

The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco).
