Over Kellet Playgroup
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £150 to Over Kellet Playgroup for cookery club equipment, including pans, utensils and kitchen essentials.
Over Kellet Playgroup is a registered charity providing high-quality early years education for children aged 2 to 4. Based in Over Kellet Village Hall, the playgroup welcomes children from the village and surrounding areas, including Carnforth, Lancaster and Morecambe, and is run by a dedicated parent committee and experienced staff.
The playgroup recently introduced a weekly Cookery Club, giving children the opportunity to explore different foods, textures, smells and tastes while learning valuable life skills. Through activities such as chopping, stirring and mixing, the children develop fine motor skills, confidence, communication and an understanding of healthy eating, hygiene and kitchen safety.
The grant funded new cooking equipment, replacing older, well-used items and providing enough equipment for more children to take part in each session. The new resources also support the playgroup's recently introduced breakfast club and help maintain its 5-star Food Hygiene Rating.
By investing in practical equipment, the grant has helped ensure more children can enjoy fun, hands-on learning experiences that encourage healthy habits from an early age.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco).
Every purchase in the shop helps fund grants for local charities, clubs and community groups across North Lancashire and South Cumbria. Please support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations in our area.
