Over 60s Club, Slyne-with-Hest
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £113 to the Over 60s Club, Slyne-with-Hest for new card and board games to support its regular social sessions.
The club provides a warm and welcoming space for local residents aged over 60 to meet, chat and take part in friendly activities at the Memorial Hall in Slyne. Meeting twice a month, members enjoy card games, dominoes and conversation, along with tea and biscuits, helping to reduce isolation and maintain strong community connections.
The grant was used to purchase new and more accessible games to enhance inclusion, particularly for members with poorer eyesight. Items included two packs each of dominoes, playing cards, UNO, Scrabble and Whist scorecards. Larger, clearer print and easy-to-handle materials will help ensure that everyone can continue to participate fully and confidently in the club’s activities.
By supporting small but meaningful improvements like this, the 3R Foundation helps local groups continue providing welcoming, inclusive spaces where friendships flourish and wellbeing is strengthened.
If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
