Mourholme Local History Society
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £80 to the Mourholme Local History Society for two wireless lapel microphones.
Mourholme Local History Society promotes the rich history of the ancient parish of Warton, covering Carnforth, Warton, Silverdale, the Yealands, Borwick and Priest Hutton. The society brings local history to life through monthly talks, an annual history weekend, organised visits and its twice-yearly magazine featuring research and articles written by members.
Their monthly talks regularly attract audiences of more than 60 people, but the existing sound system at Gaskell Hall in Silverdale relied on a handheld microphone, making it difficult for some speakers to be heard clearly throughout the room.
The grant funded two wireless lapel microphones, allowing speakers to move around naturally while ensuring everyone attending can hear presentations more clearly, wherever they are seated.
The microphones will also benefit other community organisations that regularly use Gaskell Hall, including the Women's Institute and the Horticultural Society, helping improve accessibility and enjoyment for a wide range of local events.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco).
Every purchase in the shop helps fund grants for local charities, clubs and community groups across North Lancashire and South Cumbria. Please support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations in our area.
