Morecambe Bay Maritime Volunteer Service
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £267 to Maritime Volunteer Service Morecambe Bay for a rescue swim buoy, carabiners and slings.
Morecambe Bay Maritime Volunteer Service is a newly formed unit based in Morecambe, working to support the local community through water safety, mud awareness, beach safety and boat safety education. The group also assists during incidents such as flooding and missing person searches, helping to keep the local area safe.
The unit currently has 14 volunteers who are undergoing training to develop the skills needed to support the public in a variety of situations. While they are primarily a teaching and awareness group, they are also equipped to assist when required.
The grant funded essential safety and training equipment, including a rescue swim buoy, carabiners and rescue slings. This equipment helps protect volunteers while they are working in challenging environments and enables them to respond more effectively when supporting members of the public.
This funding has helped the group continue building a well-equipped and prepared volunteer team, contributing to safety and awareness across the Morecambe Bay area.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.
Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
