Luneside and Rosebank Bowling and Recreation Club

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £550 to Rosebank Bowling Club for an undersink water heater.
The club is a long-established crown green bowling and recreation club, founded in 1830 and located close to Lancaster City Centre. It offers opportunities for both social and competitive bowling on a superb playing surface. Often described as a hidden gem or an oasis of peace and tranquillity, the club has a strong reputation within the community.

Last year, improvements were made to the green surrounds to make the space more accessible and enjoyable for a wider range of community members. In addition to the bowling green, the club features a large clubhouse, which is used not only by bowlers but also by other members, visitors, and guests for social activities. The clubhouse also accommodates snooker, table tennis, and darts, making it a versatile hub for recreation and social engagement.
The club applied to us at the 3R Foundation for a grant to install a modern 10-litre, 3KW under-sink water heater in their clubhouse as the old wall mounted water heater was recently removed as it no longer met safety standards.
A new heater is essential to meet environmental health requirements and support ongoing improvements to the kitchen area. These upgrades will help the club expand its social activities, including a new initiative launching this year—Communities Healthy & Active Together (CHAT)—which will combine bowling with clubhouse events and light refreshments. The clubhouse will also offer a Warm Space during the winter months.
If the 3R foundation could help with funds for a vital piece of equipment, then clubs and groups can apply for a grant using our simple form here:
