Lune Valley Swimming Pool
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £2,007 to Lune Valley Swimming Pool for the urgent replacement of a multi-port valve and pressure gauge — essential parts that keep the pool’s filtration system running. The valve had begun sticking, leading to cancelled sessions, engineer callouts and the risk of further closures. As a not-for-profit community pool operating on a tight budget, this unplanned expense would have placed significant pressure on their finances.
Lune Valley Swimming Pool provides swimming opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages, offering baby-and-carer sessions, children’s and adults’ lessons, aquafit, lane swimming, family swims and school-swimming programmes. The pool also teaches children from a local special school every week during term time and hosts informal sessions for SEN groups during holidays and weekends.
Throughout term time, the pool supports more than 600 swims per week, with around 450 during school holidays. Maintaining consistent access to the water is vital for local families, schools, older swimmers and those who rely on swimming for health and wellbeing. Replacing the valve has prevented further disruptions and allowed the pool to continue delivering its full timetable for the community.
If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
