Lancaster University Women’s Cricket Club

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £471 to Lancaster University Women’s Cricket Club for Training equipment and softball bats and balls.
Lancaster University Women’s Cricket Club is a welcoming community for female cricketers of all skill levels. The team competes in the annual Roses competition against the University of York and was recently promoted to the BUCS Northern Premier League, where they will face some of the top university sides in the country.

The club has grown from just eleven players after the COVID-19 pandemic to over 30 members, thanks to the dedication of past and present committee members who have worked to show that cricket is for girls. Captains and the Coach provide regular support, helping players build both skills and confidence.
More than just a team, the club offers a space to form friendships, have fun, and take a break from daily stresses. It is committed to empowering women both on and off the field.
The grant helped the club purchase essential equipment for the upcoming season, keeping players fit and helping prevent injuries. This included warm-up gear such as resistance bands and medicine balls, as well as soft ball bats and balls for the new league the development team is entering. These resources will give beginners the chance to experience match play, supporting the club’s focus on player growth at all levels. Access to proper equipment is key to staying injury-free in a top league and continuing to grow women’s cricket.
If the 3R foundation could help with funds for a vital piece of equipment, then clubs and groups can apply for a grant using our simple form here:
