Lancaster & Morecambe Repair Cafe

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £207 to Lancaster & Morecambe Repair Cafe

Lancaster & Morecambe Repair Café hosts pop-up workshops across the district in a range of community venues. These events aim to raise awareness of the impacts of consumer culture and promote sustainability by encouraging people to repair, rather than discard, broken items. By fixing everyday objects; from small electrical appliances to clothing and household goods, the Repair Café helps reduce waste, conserve resources, and extend the life of products that would otherwise end up in landfill.

Beyond the environmental benefits, these workshops also foster community connection and resilience. Skilled volunteers not only carry out repairs but also share their knowledge with attendees, helping to revive traditional repair skills and empower individuals to fix things themselves in the future. This sharing of skills strengthens intergenerational learning, builds confidence, and promotes a more circular economy.

To support their work, Lancaster & Morecambe Repair Café applied for a grant from the 3R Foundation to have T-shirts printed for their facilitators. These shirts will help make volunteers easily identifiable at events, ensuring attendees know who to approach for help, improving the overall organisation and visibility of the sessions.

If the 3R foundation could help with funds for a vital piece of equipment, then clubs and groups can apply for a grant using our simple form here:
