Lancaster Mens Hub

Lancaster Mens Hub

The 3R Foundation recently donated a selection of power tools and cordless tools to Lancaster Mens Hub, items that would have raised around £100 if sold in the 3R charity shop. However, staying true to the 3R Foundation’s values of Recycle, Reuse and Rehome, the tools were instead passed directly to a local group able to put them to immediate and positive use.

Lancaster Men’s Hub, a registered charity, founded in 2021, that works to promote the wellbeing of men in Lancaster and the surrounding area through social and practical activities. Guided by the slogan “wellbeing through doing”, the Hub recognises that factors such as grief, disability, mental ill-health or financial worries can lead to isolation, and that many men find it easier to connect through shared activities rather than formal conversation.

The Hub provides opportunities for men to meet, work alongside one another and build friendships in a relaxed and supportive environment. Activities include the weekly “Elevenses” gathering, games evenings, walking football, an allotment, organised walks and, most recently, the opening of a workshop. It is within this new workshop space that the donated tools will be used, helping members learn practical skills, work on shared projects and continue those valuable sideways conversations that support improved wellbeing.

By rehoming these tools, the 3R Foundation helped reduce waste while supporting a local organisation that delivers real social impact within the community.

If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
