Lancaster John O'Gaunt Rowing Club

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £204 to Lancaster John O'Gaunt Rowing Club @johnogauntrowing for 20x High visibility hats.
They are an inclusive rowing club based in Skerton on the banks of the River Lune. The club welcomes anyone interested in rowing—whether new to the sport, competitive or recreational, senior or junior. They offer British Rowing-affiliated Learn to Row courses and take part in local and regional competitions. Committed to making rowing accessible to all, the club provides discounted memberships and grant-funded Learn to Row programmes.

The club wanted to improve safety on the water by providing high visibility hats for all members. These hats make rowers more visible to other river users and are particularly valuable in emergency situations.
As rowing involves facing away from the direction of travel, it is difficult for participants to maintain a clear lookout. This increased the importance of wearing high visibility clothing. Ensuring that every member has access to such safety gear was a key priority for the club in promoting a safe and inclusive rowing environment.
If the 3R foundation could help with funds for a vital piece of equipment, then clubs and groups can apply for a grant using our simple form here:
