Lancaster John O Gaunt Rowing Club

The 3R Foundation has recently awarded a grant of £539 to Lancaster John O Gaunt Rowing Club to purchase a pair of sculling oars.

The club provides facilities and equipment for people aged 12 to 90 to enjoy the sport of rowing. Members take part both recreationally and competitively, with some racing at regional regattas throughout the year. The club has seen growth in membership recently, particularly among those in their 20s, and the current Learn to Row programme has attracted 10 new participants.

With a fleet that includes singles, doubles, quads and eights, the club offers both sculling and sweep rowing. However, much of the equipment is well worn, and with increasing numbers, there has been a shortage of oars during training sessions. The club’s long-term goal is to raise funds to purchase 10 new sets of sculling oars to properly equip its boats. Thanks to this grant, a new pair of oars has been secured, helping to support the continued growth and development of the club.

If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or a vital piece of equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.

We offer small grants to support projects across Lancaster, Morecambe, North Lancs and South Lakes, and applying is quick and easy here:
