Lancaster Cricket Club
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £730 to Lancaster Cricket Club for a remembrance bench, flagstones and foundation materials.
Lancaster Cricket Club runs multiple senior teams alongside a thriving junior section, offering coaching and opportunities for players from the age of five upwards. In recent years the club has also expanded opportunities for women and girls, while continuing to play an important role in the local community through events, school programmes and fundraising activities.
The club’s facilities are used not only by players, but also by families, supporters and local groups, making it a valued community hub where people come together through sport and social activities.
The grant supported the creation of a memorial area in honour of a much-loved club member who sadly passed away from cancer. He had played a huge role in supporting the club through difficult times and was greatly respected by members and volunteers alike.
Funding helped purchase a remembrance bench, paving materials and foundations, allowing volunteers to create a peaceful space where people can sit, reflect and remember. The memorial area stands as a lasting tribute while also providing an attractive feature within the club grounds for the wider community to enjoy.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.
Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
