Lancaster Bulldogs Wheelchair Basketball Club

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £460 to Lancaster Bulldogs Wheelchair Basketball Club for wheelchair tyres, inner tubes and repairs.

Lancaster Bulldogs is a local wheelchair basketball club competing across multiple levels, including the British Wheelchair Basketball National League, Development League, Under 15s League and Women’s Cup. The club welcomes participants of all ages and abilities, providing a safe and inclusive environment where disabled people can stay active, develop skills and build friendships.

As a busy and growing club, their basketball wheelchairs are used regularly for training and competition. Over time, the tyres and inner tubes naturally wear down, and many of the club’s chairs had become in need of maintenance and repair.

The grant funded replacement tyres for club chairs, repairs to punctured wheels and a stock of spare inner tubes. This has ensured that equipment remains safe, reliable and ready for use, allowing sessions and matches to continue without disruption.

Maintaining this specialist equipment is essential to the running of the club, helping ensure all players can take part fully and safely in both training and competitive play.

The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.

Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
