Lancaster and Westmorland Junior Badminton League

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £249 to the Lancaster and Westmorland Junior Badminton League for 72 tournament shuttlecocks and 84 medals.

The League is a small community of badminton enthusiasts running junior tournaments across Lancaster and Westmorland from September to March. Competitions cater to age groups from Under-11 to Under-18, featuring both singles and doubles matches. These tournaments give young players the chance to compete against peers from different clubs, enjoy a non-mainstream sport, and develop skills that can progress to county-level coaching and competition.

To keep events accessible, the League relies on donated used shuttlecocks, but semi-finals and finals are played with new shuttlecocks. The grant funded the purchase of six tubes of 12 shuttlecocks each, ensuring fair and consistent play for the top matches. In addition, the League used the funding to buy 84 medals for winners and runners-up across all singles and doubles events. These medals are highly valued by the players, providing a tangible reward that enhances participation and enjoyment.

Thanks to this support, the Lancaster and Westmorland Junior Badminton League can continue to offer high-quality, competitive, and inclusive opportunities for young people in the area, fostering skill development, confidence, and a love for the sport.

If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
