Lancashire Cricket Foundation

The 3R Foundation has awarded £642 to the Lancashire Cricket Foundation for bats, balls, stumps and bags.

The Lancashire Cricket Foundation is the official charity of Lancashire Cricket and uses the power of the sport to inspire communities and improve lives across the county. Working in schools, clubs and community settings, the Foundation promotes physical activity, education, wellbeing and social inclusion, ensuring cricket is accessible to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.

The grant will support the continued growth of community cricket in Lancaster and the surrounding area. Two new Walking Cricket hubs have recently been established at Westgate CC and Lancaster Men’s Hub, enabling 55 participants — many retired or returning after decades — to reconnect with cricket, stay active and build new friendships. Lancaster Men’s Hub currently has no equipment, which is a barrier to further expansion, especially over winter.

A strong partnership with Salt Ayre Sports Centre now provides free use of their sports hall every Sunday from September to April, allowing delivery of a wide range of programmes: fully funded All Stars and Girls-only Dynamos for children from lower socio-economic backgrounds, U11s development sessions, a new Tapeball Cricket offer for diverse communities and, from February, a Women’s Indoor Cricket League.

This grant will ensure both Lancaster Men’s Hub and the Salt Ayre programme have the equipment they need, helping make cricket more inclusive, sustainable and impactful for the local community.

If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
