Kendal Rugby Club

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £724 to Kendal Rugby Club for first aid training for 12 volunteer coaches.

Kendal Rugby Club, based at Mint Bridge, is a thriving community club welcoming players from ages 5 to 85. The club runs a wide range of activities including junior training, Colts, senior men’s and women’s teams, touch rugby and a weekly walking rugby group, as well as hosting inclusive community activities.

The club relies on volunteers to deliver its sessions, making it essential that they are properly trained to ensure a safe environment for all participants.

The grant funded first aid training for 12 volunteer coaches, delivered by an RFU-approved provider with real pitch-side experience. This ensures coaches are equipped to respond effectively to injuries during training and matches.

The 3R Foundation does not fund training costs as part of its grant programme; however, this award was made as a clear one-off exception due to the strong and direct safety benefit for a large number of participants.

This investment helps ensure the safety and wellbeing of players across all age groups while supporting the continued growth of the club.

The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.

Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
