Kendal Rugby Club

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £500 to Kendal Rugby Club towards the cost of a mobile defibrillator.

Kendal Rugby Club's ground at Mint Bridge attracts players from 5 to 85 to play rugby. There are two touch rugby sessions each week, one social rugby team, two senior men's teams, one senior women's team, one weekly walking rugby session, one Colts team, and 11 x year group training sessions from age 5 to age 15. It's a thriving and inclusive community where every rugby style is played to benefit mental and physical health.

The grant from the 3R Foundation was a contribution towards the cost of a mobile defibrillator, which was purchased through the London Hearts scheme (following a recommendation from 3R). While the club already had a fixed defibrillator located at the rear of the building, there was a clear need for a mobile unit that could be taken to the pitch by the medical team during senior games.

When not in use for matches, the mobile defibrillator is to be stored in the club’s medical room, where it will serve as a shared resource. This ensures it is accessible for all groups regularly using the club, including Parkinson’s and arthritis support groups, Age UK, the Women’s Institute, Evolve, and Elysium.

If the 3R foundation could help with funds for a vital piece of equipment, then clubs and groups can apply for a grant using our simple form here:
