Kendal Gymnastics Club
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £525 to Kendal Gymnastics Club for a springboard guard cushion for vault training.
Kendal Gymnastics Club provides gymnastics training for boys and girls aged from 3 years upwards, with gymnasts currently ranging up to 14 years old. The club will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2026 and supports around 150 gymnasts across a range of levels, from recreational beginners to county and regional competitors.
Alongside weekly training sessions, the club runs holiday camps open to the wider community, as well as drop-in sessions, in-house competitions and displays where gymnasts can showcase the skills they have worked hard to develop. The club is primarily run by volunteers, with a volunteer committee managing the organisation and a dedicated Friends group helping behind the scenes with events and fundraising.
The grant funded the purchase of a Gymnova springboard guard, a foam safety cushion that surrounds three sides of a vault springboard to provide additional protection for gymnasts when jumping onto the board. The club previously had only one guard available, so the new equipment allows more gymnasts to train safely and expands vault training opportunities across sessions.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.
Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
