Holme Playgroup & Toddlers

Holme Playgroup & Toddlers

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £250 to Holme Playgroup & Toddlers for toys and craft supplies.

Holme Playgroup and Toddlers is a volunteer-run group providing a welcoming space for pre-school children and their parents or caregivers. Meeting weekly, the group offers activities that support early development while also giving families valuable social connection and support.

The playgroup had recently faced the risk of closure due to falling numbers and a lack of leadership, leaving it just a few sessions away from being unable to cover room hire costs. However, a new group of trustees stepped in and successfully turned things around, increasing attendance and securing the group’s future. The playgroup now runs year-round, offering even more support to local families.

As numbers grew, it became clear that many of the existing toys were no longer suitable, with some needing to be discarded due to damage. The grant funded new toys and craft materials, helping the group expand its activities and better support a wider range of developmental needs.

These improvements have helped create a more engaging and inclusive environment for children, while strengthening a vital community space for families in the area.

The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.

Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
