Holme Cricket Club Junior Section

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £250 to Holme Cricket Club Junior Section for pads, balls, helmets, gloves and training equipment.

Holme Cricket Club provides a safe and enjoyable environment where local children can learn cricket, develop their skills and become part of a team. Its growing Junior Section currently runs All Stars and Dynamos programmes alongside Under 11 and Under 13 teams competing in the Westmorland Junior Cricket League.

The club hopes to add two more junior age groups from 2027, creating a clear pathway for young players to progress through the club and, eventually, into its adult teams.

As the Junior Section has grown, so has the need for good quality equipment. The grant funded training equipment and essential matchday safety kit, including helmets, pads and gloves, helping coaches keep sessions varied, structured and enjoyable.

Importantly, having shared protective equipment available also means families don't have to purchase everything themselves. With the cost of cricket equipment potentially preventing some children from taking part, the club wants to make sure that every young player has the opportunity to play safely, regardless of their circumstances.

The new equipment has helped Simon and the team continue growing junior cricket at Holme and welcoming even more youngsters into the sport.

The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco).
