Headway Lancaster & Morecambe Bay
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £504 to Headway Lancaster & Morecambe Bay for flyers, printed T-shirts, letterheads and a roller banner stand to support their local awareness work.
Headway Lancaster & Morecambe Bay is a voluntary community group supporting brain-injury survivors, their families and carers, many of whom face loneliness and isolation after hospital discharge. Their key aim is to improve health and wellbeing through regular activities, including monthly daytime drop-ins with workshops, advice, guidance and advocacy.
They also run the Dorrington Road Allotment Project – “Growing with Headway”, giving members a chance to meet, socialise and benefit from time outdoors, as well as fundraising to subsidise activity days and residential weekends at the Calvert Trust in Keswick.
The grant was used to purchase new promotional materials to strengthen their local awareness campaigns, helping people better understand the challenges of living with an acquired brain injury — often an invisible disability. Headway plans to work with supermarkets, educational settings and business networks to broaden understanding and raise further funds. Much of the awareness work will be led by members themselves, ensuring lived-experience voices are at the heart of their message.
Every 90 seconds someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with a brain injury, and while survival rates have improved, life afterwards can be daunting and isolating — making local support vital.
If your charity, club or community group needs funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
