Growing Well
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £500 to Growing Well for branded T-shirts for beneficiaries.
Growing Well is a mental health charity based on an organic farm, where people experiencing depression, anxiety and other mental health challenges improve their wellbeing through horticulture and nature-based activities. Supporting up to 100 people each year, the charity welcomes beneficiaries from South Lakeland, Furness and North Lancashire.
Working alongside experienced staff and volunteers, participants help grow fruit, vegetables and flowers while developing confidence, learning new skills and building supportive friendships. The farm provides a calm, welcoming environment where people can recover at their own pace.
The grant funded 30 branded T-shirts for new beneficiaries joining the programme. While simple in appearance, the T-shirts play an important role in helping people feel part of the Growing Well community, creating a sense of belonging and equality from their very first day.
When we visited the farm, Site Manager Siobhan gave us a fascinating tour, highlighting the incredible scale of the operation and the positive impact it has on so many lives. Beneficiaries told us how much they valued receiving their T-shirts, explaining that wearing them strengthened their sense of community, belonging and pride in being part of such a welcoming and supportive group.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco).
Every purchase in the shop helps fund grants for local charities, clubs and community groups across North Lancashire and South Cumbria. Please support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations in our area.
