Friends of Skerton St Luke's Primary School PTA
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £886 to Friends of Skerton St Luke's Primary School PTA for a storage shed, shelving and boxes for a uniform recycling store.
The PTA works to support the school community by strengthening home-school relationships, providing resources and creating opportunities that enhance pupils’ learning beyond the standard school budget. Run entirely by volunteers, they raise funds through events and donations to benefit pupils and families.
Recognising that many families in the school community face financial pressures, the PTA set out to establish a preloved uniform scheme. The aim is to collect, store and redistribute school uniform to families who need it, helping reduce costs while promoting reuse.
The grant funded an 8ft x 10ft storage shed, along with shelving and storage boxes, enabling the PTA to organise uniform by size and keep it accessible for families. The school has supported the project and provided space on the playground for the unit.
This new facility has helped make the uniform scheme practical and sustainable, supporting families while reducing waste and strengthening the sense of community within the school.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.
Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
