Friends of Carnforth Community Primary School

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £479 to the Friends of Carnforth Community Primary School for a buddy bench for their playground.
A grant from the 3R Foundation has supported The Friends of Carnforth Community Primary School in their work to enhance the school’s outdoor learning facilities.
The Friends group raises vital funds to improve the learning environment and create a positive educational experience for all pupils. They do this by organising a variety of enjoyable fundraising events for the children, their families, and the wider community, such as family bingo, movie nights, seasonal fairs, discos, pop-up shops, non-uniform days, fun runs, and parties. All funds raised are donated directly back into the school for the benefit of the children.

Currently, the group is helping the school to upgrade its outdoor equipment and facilities. Part of this involved replacing the school’s ‘Buddy Bench’ – a special seat on the playground where children can go if they are feeling in need of a friend to talk to or play with. The bench plays an important role in encouraging children to recognise and express their feelings, ask for help, and show teamwork, kindness, and empathy.
The existing bench, which had been upcycled and repaired in the past, has unfortunately begun to rot and was no longer safe for use. The grant enabled the school to replace it with a safe, welcoming new bench, ensuring this valuable feature remains available for the pupils for years to come.
If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or a vital piece of equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
