Father's House Church Lancaster
The 3R Foundation recently awarded its largest grant to date of £3,498 to Father's House Church Lancaster for wall cladding and a commercial oven for its newly refurbished community kitchen.
Fathers House Elim Church provides vital support to the local community through its welcoming community café, where volunteers prepare fresh, hot and nourishing meals at low cost. The café is open to anyone in need, with no referrals or questions asked, and offers both eat-in and takeaway options, usually with meat and vegetarian choices available.
The church is also home to the Food for Thought Food Club, a not-for-profit initiative that redistributes surplus food intercepted from supermarkets and partner agencies. Members can access bags of tinned, fresh and frozen food for a small fee, while food donated through schemes such as Neighbourly is given out free of charge beyond the membership offer. This helps reduce food waste while ensuring people have access to affordable, nutritious food.
In addition, Fathers House Elim Church works to prevent and relieve poverty more widely, supporting people experiencing homelessness with clothing and essential items. The church collaborates closely with local organisations including Eggcup and the Lancaster District Food Justice Partnership, helping to strengthen local food justice and support networks.
The grant will fund essential improvements to the kitchen, ensuring it is safe, durable and fully equipped to meet increasing demand. The new commercial oven and wall cladding will enable volunteers to prepare meals more efficiently and continue delivering much-needed support to the community.
If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
