Cumbria Cerebral Palsy
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £599 to Cumbria Cerebral Palsy for a new laptop PC.
Cumbria Cerebral Palsy has supported people with cerebral palsy, their families and carers for over 70 years. As an independent charity with no government funding, they rely on donations and volunteers to deliver vital services across the county.
Their work includes running a day centre, providing one-to-one support through Community Family Advisors, and assisting over 225 clients. This includes help with benefit applications, accessing services and providing guidance following diagnosis. Much of this support takes place in people’s homes across rural Cumbria, making reliable equipment essential.
The grant funded a replacement laptop for a West Cumbria Family Advisor, whose previous device was nearly six years old and no longer fit for purpose. The new laptop has improved their ability to support clients during home visits, complete forms, attend online meetings and deliver remote support.
The advisor shared: “My old laptop was slow and often needed to be plugged in, which made home visits difficult. The new laptop has made such a difference and allows me to properly support my clients. Thank you very much.”
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.
Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
