The 3R Foundation recently awarded £432 to Core Taekwondo Academy in Kendal to purchase 16 double kick targets.

Core Tae Kwon Do Academy is a non-profit martial arts club teaching Olympic-style Tae Kwon Do to members of the local community. Established in 1972 as Cumbria Taekwondo Club, the academy is based at Castle Mills in Kendal and has a long history of providing high-quality training in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment.

The club promotes positive mental wellbeing through physical exercise, discipline and social interaction, helping people of all ages to build confidence, fitness and resilience while being part of a welcoming community. Sessions are designed to be fun and inspiring, encouraging participants to stay active and engaged.

As a martial art, Tae Kwon Do relies heavily on specialist equipment, particularly kicking targets that must withstand repeated forceful kicks and punches. Over time, this equipment becomes worn and unsafe and needs regular replacement. The 3R Foundation grant was used to purchase new double kick targets to replace damaged items, ensuring training sessions can continue safely and effectively for all members.

If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
