Carnforth Karate Club
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £864 to Carnforth Karate Club (St. Martins Karate Carnforth) for practice mats.
St. Martins Karate is a small, non-profit club based at Carnforth Civic Hall, providing karate training for young people in the local area. The club offers a supportive environment where participants can develop discipline, confidence and physical fitness through martial arts.
The grant funded the purchase of training mats, which have significantly improved the safety and range of activities the club can offer. Previously, sessions took place on a hard concrete floor, limiting what could be practised safely.
With the new mats in place, students are now able to learn breakfall techniques, an essential skill in martial arts that also helps improve personal safety in everyday situations. The mats have also enabled the club to introduce more groundwork training, expanding the overall programme.
This investment has helped create a safer training environment while allowing the club to deliver a more complete and effective karate experience for its members.
The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.
Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
