Carnforth & District Crown Green Bowling

Carnforth & District Crown Green Bowling

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £300 to Carnforth & District Crown Green Bowling Club for a battery powered hover mower and strimmer.

The bowling green is a valuable community resource, used not only by club members competing in local and county leagues, but also by schools, local caravan clubs and community organisations including the Rotary and Salvation Army. The green plays an important role in bringing people together for sport, recreation and social activity.

To maintain a safe and high quality playing surface, regular upkeep is essential. The edges of the green in particular require careful trimming, as standard mowers cannot reach these areas. Without proper maintenance, overgrown edges can affect how bowls run, impacting both safety and fair play.

The grant enabled the purchase of a cordless hover mower and strimmer, ensuring the club can maintain the green effectively and in an environmentally responsible way. Battery powered equipment offers a quieter, cleaner solution while helping volunteers keep the green in top condition for all who use it.

If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
