Carnforth Community Swimming pool

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £480 to Carnforth Community Swimming pool for 4x CPR training manikins.

As a charity-run swimming pool, the facility offers sessions for people of all ages, swimming abilities, and their families. It proudly works with 20 local schools, supports over 400 children in its swimming lesson programme, and provides a wide range of public swim sessions - including lane swims, aquafit, Swim Sanity, parent and child classes, kayaking, underwater hockey, scuba diving, and even giant inflatable sessions. Just recently, the pool even hosted a baptism!

Children’s birthday parties are held every weekend, and a new weight awareness group now makes use of the newly built extension upstairs. The pool also serves the wider community in other ways - it is officially listed as a Warm Hub and a Warm Space on several platforms, offering a welcoming environment for those in need.

As an approved training centre for Pool Lifeguards and First Aid, the team had reached a point where new CPR manikins were urgently needed, as many of their existing ones were nearing the end of their useful life. Staff training sessions are held every month, and 2 to 3 full courses are run each year to train new lifeguards. Most recently, 12 local teenagers successfully completed their course and became fully qualified lifeguards - an achievement the team is incredibly proud of. They also offer Rookie Lifeguard sessions for younger swimmers, helping to build safety skills from an early age.

The manikins purchased with the 3R grant can be used as either adult or child models, effectively offering double the value - 8 uses for the price of 4!
