Burton in Kendal Bowling Club
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £133 to Burton Bowling Club for a dew switch (brush) and spare blade to help maintain the playing surface.
The club is an inclusive crown green bowling club based in Burton-in-Kendal, offering opportunities for people of all abilities to take part in the sport. During the season, teams compete in local leagues, and a weekly club night welcomes members and newcomers alike. The club plays an active role in village life, hosting open days for community groups such as the W.I. and organising fun days that encourage residents to try bowling for the first time.
The grant funded the purchase of a dew switch and replacement blade — essential equipment used to clear dew and worm casts from the green. Regular use of this tool helps protect the surface, ensures safe and consistent playing conditions, and supports the long-term health of the green for both competitive matches and community use.
By helping maintain facilities like this, the 3R Foundation supports grassroots sport and ensures local venues remain welcoming, accessible and enjoyable for the whole community.
If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
