Bowerham School Foundation

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £750 to Bowerham Primary and Nursery School Foundation for 30 shared school sports kits.

Bowerham School is a large primary school in Lancaster with over 600 pupils, as well as a nursery and baby unit. The school is highly committed to providing inclusive and active opportunities for all children, encouraging participation in sport both within school and through a wide range of external competitions.

They regularly take part in local sporting events and have received recognition for the number of opportunities they offer, as well as their focus on inclusion and equal access across different sports.

The school’s existing kits were shared across multiple year groups and had become worn and difficult to manage, particularly when several events were taking place at the same time. This often meant children had to wear their own clothing or kits had to be quickly washed and reused between fixtures.

The grant funded 30 new sports kits, designed by the school’s sports council and supplied by a local company. The new kits have given pupils a sense of pride and belonging when representing their school, while also ensuring all children can take part comfortably and confidently in sporting events.

The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.

Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
