Bolton-le-Sands Tennis Club
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £327 to Bolton-le-Sands Tennis Club for a cordless leaf blower and spare battery.
Bolton-le-Sands Tennis Club is a community club serving local residents and players of all ages. The club has recently partnered with the Parish Council to resurface and repaint it's tennis courts, significantly improving facilities and helping to grow both competitive and social tennis participation. The club runs several teams in summer and winter leagues, while social membership continues to increase following the refurbishment. Looking ahead, the club’s longer-term ambition is to introduce floodlights to enable year-round use of the courts.
The courts are surrounded by mature trees and are affected by heavy leaf fall, particularly during the autumn months. This can make playing surfaces slippery and unsafe if not cleared regularly. The grant was used to purchase a battery-powered leaf blower, along with a spare battery, allowing volunteers to maintain the courts efficiently and safely. A battery-powered option was chosen as it is quieter, more environmentally friendly and safer to use than a petrol alternative, especially across a large playing area.
This equipment will help ensure the courts remain clean, safe and accessible for members and visitors, supporting continued growth in participation and enjoyment of tennis within the local community.
If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
