Animal Care Lancaster
The 3R Foundation recently awarded £544 to Animal Care Lancaster for a Stihl chainsaw, safety boots and helmet to support essential site maintenance.
Animal Care rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes animals across the Lancaster and Morecambe area. Alongside caring for animals in need, the charity promotes kindness and responsible pet ownership through education, outreach and community events.
The grant supported the purchase of a chainsaw and appropriate safety equipment to enable volunteers to safely cut back overhanging branches on site. Some trees had become dangerously overgrown and required pruning to maintain a safe environment for staff, volunteers and visitors. In addition to improving safety, clearing the branches ensures CCTV cameras have unobstructed views of the cattery and kennels, strengthening site security and safeguarding the animals in their care.
A member of the 3R Foundation Grants Committee, who also volunteers with Silverdale Woodbank, provided additional safety advice and guidance to help ensure the most suitable equipment and protective gear were selected. Animal Care expressed their appreciation, thanking the Foundation for its invaluable advice regarding safety equipment.
This funding has helped ensure that vital maintenance work can be carried out safely and effectively, supporting the ongoing care and protection of animals at the centre.
If you know of a local charity, club or community group looking for funding for a project or equipment, the 3R Foundation may be able to help.
