5th Lancaster Scout Group

5th Lancaster Scout Group

The 3R Foundation recently awarded £509 to 5th Lancaster Scout Group for a new gas cooker for their headquarters.

The group provides scouting activities for around 40 young people across Beaver, Cub and Scout sections. Through regular meetings, outdoor adventures and skills-based activities, the group helps young people develop confidence, teamwork, independence and practical life skills in a fun and supportive environment.

The grant funded the purchase of a replacement cooker after the previous one had broken and was no longer usable. Having a working cooker is important for many scouting activities, including cooking sessions where young people learn essential life skills such as preparing meals, working safely in a kitchen and cooperating as a team.

The new cooker ensures the group can continue running these activities safely at their headquarters, supporting both weekly meetings and special events for their members.

The 3R Foundation funds grants like this through the Recycle, Reuse, Rehome charity shop in Carnforth (next to Tesco). With a large number of grant applications coming in recently, continued support from the local community is more important than ever.

Every purchase in the shop helps raise the funds that go straight back out as grants to support local charities, clubs and community groups. If you are nearby, please call in and support the shop so we can continue helping even more organisations across our area.
